Will a planned defense shield defeat real missiles? -- This quick sumary at Scientific American reminds me of why I oppose deployment of missile defense: it just doesn't work. The program is a combination of political white elephant and welfare program for the aerospace industry. If real, operational tests were planned earlier in the process I would have much moe confidence in the system. Chosing to rely on simulations and models instead of live testing on a multibillion-dollar program is always a sure sign that something is fishy.
